I’m Hannah, the maker behind hannah makes pretty things. I began working with clay by taking a class near my home in Oakland. It started as an innocent curiosity about working with my hands, and quickly grew into a steady, grounding practice. Once I set up a small home studio during the pandemic, I was hooked! Now I am a proud member of a community studio, Merritt Ceramics. I’m drawn to the slowness of working by hand and the quiet lessons it offers around patience, presence, and letting go of perfection.

I’m a lifelong learner and a proud “multipotentialite” - a serial crafter who loves exploring new mediums. While ceramics is at the heart of my work, I also create with fiber and photography, and I’m constantly experimenting with embroidery, macramé, knitting, watercolor, and whatever else sparks curiosity next. But one thing is true across mediums: I’m inspired by simple, familiar things like flowers, fruit, mountains, the ocean, sunlight, and my favorite furry creatures.

Through my work, I hope to offer handmade reminders to slow down, notice what’s around us, and find beauty and sweetness in ordinary moments. Thank you for being here and for supporting handmade work, it truly means so much.
